Al-Sindy has made a lot of sketches and paintings of her mother since 2016. These are fragments that include her mother’s body parts and postures as a central theme, with her feet and sections of her face being the motifs in these works. The position of the easel and her mother’s posture do not change; what does change is the light and time, manifested as wrinkles on her face and body. Covering her entire body, she wears a garb that she does not even remove in her daughter’s presence. Her reluctance to bare her skin, however neutral the parts of the body may be, is far too great. The chastity that has been instilled in her has taken on a more important role in her life.
